Brief Introduction of College of Textiles  

The College of Textiles is the most characteristic and well-recognized college at the Donghua University.Founded in 1951, the Donghua University (with former names being the East-China Textile Institute of Science and Technology before 1985 and then the China Textile University before 1999) has been the leading Chinese university in the fields related to textiles.In consequence, the College of Textiles was among the first group of colleges in Chinese universities that were authorized for awarding the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Presently, the college offers the bachelor’s degrees in Textile Engineering, Nonwoven Materials, and Functional Textile Materials, as well as the master’s and doctoral degrees in Textile Science and Engineering.It is noteworthy that the Textile Science and Engineering at the Donghua University has been identified as the “(Chinese) National Key Discipline” and the “First-Class Discipline (at the universities located in Shanghai)”.

The College of Textiles now includes six departments of Textile Engineering, Textile Materials, Knitting and Apparel, Nonwoven Materials and Engineering, High-Tech Textiles, and Textile Design and Textile Industry Management; additionally, the college also has a Training Center and its own Administration Office.In term of research facilities, the college has established the Textile Technology Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education, the Industrial Textiles Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, and the Textiles Testing Center (certified by the International Metrology Verification Regulation).
